Sam's Web Page

(This is a test to evaluate Bluehost's FrontPage Functionality)

Here's the "Front Page" Story

When a sub-domain is initiated on the Bluehost server, the file and folder permissions are set okay on an new sub, sam.50th-reunion.com:

All Folder Permissions = 0755

    All File Permissions = 0644

Then the required Front Page Extensions are installed by first slipping "fp/" in front of "index" inside of the CP URL and refreshing to get to the FP Extension page, and then making the installation.  This causes the following Permission Changes, and this is repeatable:

Sub Domain Name Folder = 0750

                 _vti_pvt Folder = 0750

               service.pwd File = 0600

When you try to access "sam" with a browser, you get Error 403.  When you try to edit the web site with Front Page, you get a "bunch of complaining" in the wecerr.txt file and can't access the server.

The fix is to set the above Folder Permissions to 0755 and the above file Permissions to 0644.  This returns their Permissions to the original settings.  After that is done, all is normal and ready to roll!

Bluehost really should correct this bug as long as they accommodate the use of FrontPage in their server!
